Job OverviewA law firm seeks a skilled Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property & Technology practice in Dallas, TX. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with at least five years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution.
DutiesHarvest inventions directly from clients.Advise clients on invention disclosures, patent strategy, and prosecution.Evaluate cutting-edge technology.Draft and prosecute US patent applications.Guide prosecution of foreign patent applications.Contribute to opinion work and client counseling.Support litigation efforts.Provide technical support across the practice.RequirementsAt least 5 years as a patent agent at a law firm or in-house.Registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office.Experience with software patents is a plus.EducationDegree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.CertificationsRegistered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office.SkillsGenuine passion for technology and a collaborative spirit.Sharp attention to detail and a strategic mindset.Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.Excellent writing skills, both technical and general.BenefitsMedical, dental, and vision insurance.401k plan.Short-term and long-term disability insurance.Life insurance.Tuition reimbursement.Paid time off and holidays.Discretionary bonuses.
